Kalendr is setting the bar when it comes to rocking the Chicago club scene. Whether he is commanding attention through mixing, track selection, crowd control or programming a room; Kalendr’s style and skills have positioned him as one of Chicago’s premiere house DJ’s .
Since his early residencies at venues including world-known Crobar and SoundBar Chicago, Kalendr has established a presence on the global dance music scene while maintaining close ties to his Midwest roots. Today the DJ/Producer balances a Saturday weekly at Chicago’s legendary SpyBar while also touring in North and South America. Kalendr began establishing his career on the Chicago scene in 2005. A transplant from Novi, Michigan and a graduate of Michigan State University; this working DJ already had a deep background in promotions and advertising. Some of his better known early stints include Djing for the 2004 Campus Life Tour; a college road show that toured 14 campuses in the Midwest and Southeast. This tour finished it schedule on Spring Break in Panama City Beach where Kalendr headlined a week’s worth of nightclub and beach parties hosted by MTV & The Real World cast members.
Kalendr’s presence on the decks has allowed him to secure several U.S. residencies in the past 8 years. A natural promoter and party planner by trade; Kalendr has channeled his skills into a number of avenues, including his residence on the annual Miami Groove Cruise (www.WhetTravel.com) a cruise that started in 2004 which departs every January from Miami, Florida.
This dj/producer has toured alongside Bad Boy Bill in Brazil and other shows across the U.S giving the responsibility to set up the dance-floor. Kalendr has shared the booth with some of the worlds top-notch talents, including Tiesto, Deadmau5, Eric Morillo, Ferry Corston, Benni Banassi, Roger Sanchez DJ Dan, Boris, Ivano Bellini, Oscar G, Cedric Gervias, Steve Smooth, Serge Devant, Robbie Rivera, Richard Vission and Sultan to name a few. When he’s not touring the country, Kalendr is holding down his weekly Saturday night residence at SpyBar, Chicago’s flagship dance venue that has hosted some of the biggest names of the decade. “It’s a destination and favorite for some of the world’s best DJs,” says Kalendr; who maintains close ties to his resident Chicago. Starting in 2008 Kalendr began a new stage of his career as he migrated from the decks into the studio where he has started his new “Kalendr LIVE Podcast” and already begun collaborated with some of dance music’s most reputable artists. On top of being a weekly reporter for Billboard.com and working with sponsors such as Native Instruments Kalendr started channeling his aspirations into producing music, taking cue from the influences of Bad Boy Bill, Steve Smooth, Mark Knight & Toolroom Records Artists, Steve Angello, Chus & Ceballos, Axwell & Dirty South.
